Arm Lift or Brachioplasty surgery is done to eliminate tissue redundancy and reduce arm circumference. Most Plastic Surgeons believes that aesthetic procedure of the upper extremity   is indicated on patient with arm lipodystrophy and skin redundancy resulting from massive weight lost. Patient must be willing to accept an extensive scar in exchange for a superior upper extremity contour.

Arm tissue relaxes with age, gravity and weight loss. The drooping of skin is due to stretching of the anchoring system of the arm and loss of supporting fat volume. Brachioplasty (arm reduction surgery) can remove excess tissue and reduce the circumference of the upper arm. Surgical correction depends on the amount of extra skin and how loose the supporting tissues have become. Extra skin is removed from incisions along the inner arm. The incision must be placed where the tissue can be best tightened but the incision must be well hidden as well. There could be some swelling at the immediate post-op period that usually subsides after several weeks to months. Elevation of the arm regions with pillows increases comfort. This is done under general anesthesia with hospital admission for few days. Sutures are removed on the 5th or 10th day after the procedure.

A lot of women as well as men realizes the needs and choose for a facelift or procedures to get a more supple and youthful looking skin. A face lift enhances one's facial contours and decreases fine lines as well as wrinkles, providing a long-lasting result.

Presently there are some factors to take into account before planning for this surgery. One needs to have reasonable goals, realistic expectations and realize that it will merely firm up the excessive loose skin on the face and neck. A strong bone structure and well-defined jaw line also helps. It is better that the person's skin has some suppleness and suppleness. People who suffer from illnesses like allergies, diabetes, high blood pressure or a cardiovascular disease are advised not to go for this surgery unless they have been properly treated or their conditions are controlled medically.
If one meets the criteria, preoperative directions are consist of quitting smoking as it intervenes with the treatment, healing and normally causes skin to age; and stopping the consumption of blood thinning medicines like aspirin.

The
face lift surgical procedure is outpatient and is carried out under sedation or general anesthesia. The cosmetic surgeon makes an incision which extends downwards along the ear along its natural curve. This makes certain that the scars remain concealed. If excess skin is to be removed from the neck area then the incision is created under the chin. The facial skin is then taken apart from the underlying tissues. After removing the required excess skin, the facial skin is moved in a way that the skin will look more firm, hence youthful looking. The skin is then sutured and dressing is used to protect the wounds. If the patient wishes to remove excess fat as well, it can be carried out using liposuction. The facelift surgery may be carried out with other cosmetic facial procedures like the blepharoplasty which is eyelid surgery.

After the
face lift surgery is properly carried out, the patient will take a minimum of 2 to 3 weeks to recuperate during which any strenuous activity should be avoided. Some irritation or swelling may be experienced by the patient around the surgical area. Such swelling generally settles down in a couple of days, but if it doesn't, keeping the head at an elevated level when sleeping will aid to reduce the swelling. Also, drainage tubes may be placed to lessen the swelling and remove any excess blood. The patient may also encounter tautness in the facial skin. The doctor will also advise one to walk as it helps blood circulation and will prevent blood clots from forming.

Enhancement Mammoplasty : Augmentation and Enlargement Breast Procedure

Breast augmentation procedure will take 1 to 2 hours to complete and this is performed under sedation with intercostal block. Pain is one of the most common concerns that patients for breast augmentation think of. Because of this, we have given this pain issue a lot of attention. We have formed a pain management protocol to address this in which patients are give intercostal blocks to numb their chest before surgery and immediately after surgery. This will help us control the pain. On top of this, patients are started on single IV pain medications combined with oral pain meds so that the effect of these medications would overlap each other.

To be honest with you, majority of my patients does not complain of pain but more of the discomfort due to swelling of the breast after surgery. But swelling is temporary and will eventually resolve through time. After surgery, as I said there will be swelling and some bruising that peaks on the 3rd day and start to subside on the 4th day onwards. You will be instructed to wear special bra used by breast augmented patient during the first 2 to 3 weeks to help control the swelling and also give you more comfort. Sutures are removed on the 7th day after surgery and wounds are healed by the 10th day after surgery. For your activity this is gradually increase after surgery since you need to rest for a day or two, you will be allowed to do some light cardio activity on the 3rd week after surgery like walking, and then you may resume regular gym exercise after 4 to 5 weeks. Patients are advise to refrain from sexual activity for 3 weeks after surgery since this may causes hematoma formation and pain during breast augmentation recovery .

Silicon breast implants do have more superior results compared with saline implants. It gives the breast natural fullness and contour, especially at the upper and outer pole/portion of the breast that cannot be attain with a saline implants. Also the feel of a breast with silicon breast implant is more natural, and patients would often comment that they hardly feel the implant when they massage their breast. This is because breast tissue density is almost identical with the silicon cohesive gel than saline implant. In addition to this, Silicon implants also have a very low rate for deflation and rippling after surgery. I never had a patient with silicon implant that had spontaneous deflation.

To know more about your breast augmentation procedure, it would be best to consult your surgeon, so that you may know all your options.
